Goodbye :)

This is my last post for class. It has been alot of fun blogging about gossip. I hope that some of you found my posts interesting. I tried to bring variety into my posts by talking about everything from celebrity gossip to personal dilemmas to what is going on around campus. I enjoyed talking about all of these subjects, and also reading many of your blogs. Thanks for a good semester, and remember, a little gossip never hurt anybody. :)

Perez Hilton

Most of you are probably familiar with the site www.perezhilton.com. It is a site primarily dedicated to celebrity gossip. Perez started off as a no name, but it is his blogging that gained him fame. Although sometimes his remarks are brutal, they are highly entertaining. I especially enjoy when he writes on people's pictures. I check the site a couple times a week and love seeing what the celebrities are up to. I thought Perez was hilarious when he was featured on an episode of Paris Hilton's show where she was looking for a new "BFF." I know that my little blog spot site will never compare to his, but I do look to Perez's talents and website as inspiration for my blogging.

The Bad Girls Club

So you think MTV'S, "The Real World" is dramatic? Wait till you see Oxygen's "The Bad Girls Club." They are now on their fourth season of the hit show. On this show you will find cat fights, girls drinking their livers to the grave, and plenty of hook ups. The cast consists of girls who consider themselves "bad", whether it be for an eating disorder, problems with men or sex, or dug/alcohol addictions. These women claim they want to reform, but all I see are them trying to claim their 15 minutes of fame. They live in a mansion, running around in their underwear, drunk. They go out to party. That's literally all they do. Even though it's ridiculous, it makes good television. Kind of like my previous post on "Jersey Shore." Watch it if you want to see some serious DRAMA!

WORST. DAY. EVER.

Ok so I have to vent about literally the worst day I've had in a while. This past Monday I had an interview for an internship with Universal Music Group. I was so excited, because one, I really need an internship for school credit, and two, because Universal Music is the largest music publishing group around. The only drawback would be the drive to LA, but I was willing to make the sacrifice for an opportunity like this. But then the day turned bad. I left my house in plenty of time, but the rain did not seem in my favor. When I was halfway to LA, it was pouring so bad that I could barely see. I considered pulling off the freeway for my own safety, but decided to continue, for time's sake. I drove a little further and the worst happened, I was rear ended. To make matters worse, the jerk who hit me (and literally looked like he just got his license) kept on going even though I signaled at him to pull over. I prayed that there was little damage and ignored the instant back pain I felt and kept driving, not knowing what to do. Next thing I know traffic is literally stopped due to accidents from the rain. It was not 1 PM, the time of my interview and I was about 20 minutes from my destination. I called the contact from Universal Music who I had and explained my situation. She said she totally understood and to take my time. Finally I reached the street the buliding was SUPPOSED to be on, but could not find it anywhere. I parked on the street and went to ask a local business if they knew where I could find it, but no one knew what I was talking about. I went to reach for my phone to call the contact back, but it was nowhere to be found. I drove away desperate in search of the building. I drove back to where I had been earlier only to see my phone laying in the busy LA street, drenched from the rain. Of course, it would not turn on, meaning that I could not call Universal Music to explain my situation. By this time, it is an hour after my appointment and I am lost in LA, without a phone, looking at my damaged car, feeling serious dizziness and backpain, and on the edge of tears. At this point I did not know what to do so I turned home. I apologized to the contact from Universal Music, and even though she says she is willing to reschedule, I feel that I have lost my chance. :(

Jersey Shore

MTV launched a new show called "Jersey Shore" last week. As embarrassed as I am to have watched it, it was almost so bad that it was good. These New Jersey "guidos" love to go out, get crazy, and "fist pump all night long." This show is basically a tacky version of the Hills...well some probably think the Hills is tacky...but wait until you see "Jersey Shore." The tans are faker and the guys are even more tool like. This show is basically a joke but I recommend watching one episode to give yourself a good laugh. And yes, I laugh at the cast, not with them. :)

finals

It's that time of the semester again that makes us all moan and groan in agony...FINALS! But are they really as bad as they seem? Yes, most likely. But together we can make them a little more bearable. For instance, how about getting a study group together and meeting at Starbucks. That way you can enjoy some coffee and good company while still getting work done. Just make sure you actually study! Or there is the all night study going on in the TSU. The week of finals they hand out give-aways every hour. Last year they even gave chipotle burritos! So to all of you, study hard and good luck on finals!

AMA'S

Last night was the 2009 American Music Awards and it has become apparent that Taylor Swift is taking over the world. She won countless awards including favorite country album, favorite female country artist, favorite adult contemporary artist, favorite female pop/rock artist, and of course the prestigeous ENTERTAINER OF THE YEAR AWARD!!! Go Taylor! The late Michael Jackson was also the winner of several categories including favorite pop/rock male artist, favorite pop/rock album, favorite soul/rhythm and blues males artist, and favorite soul/rhythm and blues album. Other winners included Jay-Z, Keith Urban, The Black Eyed Peas, Rascal Flatts, Beyonce, Aventura, Green Day, Mary Mary, Gloriana, and the Twilight soundtrack. I was excited to find out the winners because several of my favorite artists won!

Here is my video for our project! Unfortunately my voice overs didn't transfer over when I burned my DVD for some reason, so I'm kind of disappointed, but here is my script so you can see where the voice overs are supposed to go. Fell free to give me feedback and let me know how you feel about parking at CSUF.

SCRIPT:

(V/O)

Students at Cal State Fullerton are tired of paying for parking only to find themselves circling lots to find none.

Parking passes cost nearly 200 dollars at Cal State Fullerton. You would think that with the steep price, parking wouldn’t be a problem. But the reality of the situation is quite the opposite.

(Anchor)

Parking at csuf has always been an issue for students but with the closing of 2000 spots last semester frustrations are at an all time high. I spoke to a few students who had to parking 15 or 30 minute lots praying they didn’t get a ticket, just to make it to class on time.

(Interview a few students on the topic).

(V/O)

But there is a solution if you are in a time crunch to get to class. Valet parking is offered in lot A.

For every one space available, the campus sells 8 parking passes. But a new parking structure that will hold 1,500 spaces is under construction and the students of Cal State Fullerton can not wait to use it.

khloe kardashian blogs too!

So I was browsing the Internet and was delighted to stumble across newlywed, Khloe Kardashian's blog site. It is filled with all kinds of gossip including what she is up to, her day to day life, her jewelry line, pictures, etc. For example she has a couple blogs that she recently posted on NOH8 and pictures she has taken as ad campaigns for the organization. (The organization is aimed at overturning Proposition 8 and helping gay rights). Khloe's blog is truly entertaining and I think it is great she keeps her fans informed about what is going on in her life.

Twitter

One of my favorite ways of self expression, and gossip is through tweeting on the website Twitter. Over the last six months Twitter has gained popularity. Even my mom is addicted. It is basically a website where you post what you are doing, where you are, thoughts, quotes, or whatever you want to say that is under 160 characters. I tweet from my phone several times a day. My friends think I'm ridiculous because if something funny happens when we hang out I always say "I have to tweet about this!" It seems so silly but it is so fun. My friend and i were saying the other day that it's pretty cool because we feel like we have documented lots of things that happened since summer on Twitter, so it's fun to reread them.

michael jackson top videos

So the other day I was watching Vh1 and they were airing Michael Jackson's top 10 videos of all time. Being a HUGE Michael fan, I had to watch. Some of his tops included Smooth Criminal, Beat It (they placed it at number 6...personally I think it's more of a number 2), Thriller (OF COURSE!), and Black and White. There were several others but those are some of my favorites. I still can't believe Michael died. I miss the King of Pop and plan to see the movie that is out about him sometime this week.

Sex and the City 2

While giving in interview about the new movie, Couples Retreat, Kristin Davis slipped a couple secrets about the upcoming film, Sex and the City 2. Apparently everything in the sequel will be bigger and better than original. Apparently it will me significantly shorter than the first. In addition, the cast is literally shooting day and night. They get very little breaks and shoot into the wee hours of the morning. Part of this reasoning is that there are scenes with hundreds of people in them. And we all know that fashion is a crucial part of the Sex and the City series. You thought there were alot of costume changes in the first film? Just wait for the second; there are even more apparently. I can't wait to see this!

furlough week

Tuesday will mark the first day of furlough week. A week that has many parents upset, but students thanking the state of the economy. I know that I am thankful for the week considering I will be relaxing in Vegas. But I decided to learn more about why we are being blessed with this week of freedom, and although I am thankful for the break, I'm not sure we should be shouting and dancing on rooftops. President Gordon posted a letter on the Fullerton website explaining furlough days. CSU's are experiencing a $584 million dollar deficit. This caused the student fee increases that made us all moan and groan earlier in the semester, faculty pay cuts, and enrollment reductions. Things are going to continue to get worse. Get ready to pay more next semester (or have mommy and daddy do it if you're lucky). And consider yourself lucky to be going to a CSU....many will not have it as easy as we did. So this week, I am going to enjoy the break from school, but I am also going to reflect on why we are having the break.

annoyed :/

I am so frustrated right now that I can't help but vent about......COPS. Yes, it's a love/hate situation with them. I love that they have the good of the community at heart, but I hate those of them that power trip and of course when they give me tickets. But right now I am in hate mode because of a situation that just happened. You know that whole "no texting while driving" rule that went into effect a couple months ago? I'm not saying I obey it, in fact I've been pulled over once for it (but not ticket thankfully). Well, today I was driving and got cut off by a huge trick. As annoying as it was, I dismissed it. I mean, we all get cut off sometimes, and we all have cut people off. I look over and saw a cop car and think nothing of it (except to start taking my foot off the accelerator!) Next thing I knew the car that cut me off made an illegal maneuver and in the process literally came a couple inches from hitting me. It would have if I didn't slam on my breaks. I'm thinking...that cop is for sure gonna pull this guy over. I look over and what is the cop doing? TEXTING. WOW....that is all I have to say.

Edward Cullen can't get a date!

Heartthrob, Robert Pattinson is complaining that he can't find anyone to go on a date with him. Although "Twilight" fans are continuing to follow him around day and night, he says that people are more interested in Edward not Robert. Pattinson was quoted saying the following, "Girls scream out Edward and I still can't get a date. It's an all time low." Sounds to me like Robert's just one of the many celebrities who makes millions of dollars and then cries out for sympathy. Boo Hoo. But, Robert should give me a call, I'm pretty sure I know tons of girls who would gladly date him :)

Internships...just around the corner!

I know many of you are on top of your game and already completed internships, but I, being the procrastinator that I am, have yet to do this. Just in case anyone else is in the same boat as I am, I thought I'd remind everyone that internship applications for spring are due October 15Th. I just completed the online application and got really nervous! I have like one month to find an internship! It was hard enough to find a job a few months ago when I was job searching, and now I have to go through it all over again. But then again, everyone always wants free work!

The Hills, it's an addiction!

The Hills started up again this past week with a bang! Kristen Cavallari is back, and bitchier than ever! Former star of the show, Lauren Conrad was ready to move on, so Kristen stepped in. This week Kristen realizes she has chemistry with Audrina Partrige's ex, Justin-Bobby. Audrina claims she is over the jerk, but that doesn't mean she is ready to see him with a new girl, let alone Kristen. And no surprise here but Heidi and Spencer (or as many like to call them, Speidi) are having trouble in paradise. What will happen next week? SO EXCITED!

a little change of scenery...

Normally I blog from my house, but our assignment was to try blogging from a different location...so I am currently blogging from a place that thrives on gossip. A place that lives and breathes gossip. If you know anything about me you may have already guessed where I'm at. Yes, I am at my sorority house.
Don't get me wrong, I love my sisters. But when you get 90 girls together, there's gonna be drama.
But as for right now, It's a pretty calm day at the house. Well, calm in my eyes. But probably not for the average Non-Greek. I'll fill you in on what's going on around me.
Two of my sisters are nearby on another couch having a heated conversation about one of our new members. Both of them want her as their "little sis" (every new member gets a big sis to lead you through your sorority experience). Another girl was doing a load of laundry but apparently someone had already called dibs on using the washer so those two are arguing about that. I was upstairs about 20 minutes ago and was ease dropping on a conversation about boys, of course! One of my sisters really likes this one frat boy, but get this...he likes one of my OTHER sisters, AND she's one of the new girls.
Oh man....that's just a taste of what has happened in the past 20 minutes...CAN YOU IMAGINE LIVING HERE? :)

SPJ club

The society of professional journalists (SPJ) is a club that is located on the campus of CSUF, as well as across the nation. Personally, I am not involved in it, but I thought it sounded like something people might be interested in, so I thought I'd blog about it. This club has meetings at 12 every other Wednesday in the TSU (Room Ontiveroes)...often with free food. :) Go and check them out if you are a journalism major or minor, or if you just want to learn more about journalism. They hold many events ever semester, including some that are great for networking. You get the opportunity to meet many people who have excelled in the industry. This would be great for resumes!

don't blame the host!

Work has been pretty rough lately so I thought I'd do a little venting. I'm a host at CPK and let's just say it's not the dream job. I went from being a server and making some serious bank to being laid off, and forced to accept a hosting job, because let's face it...with the economy as bad as it is, any job is better than none. I have to hear the servers complain about how they only have been making 150 in tips a night (cry me a river people...try making minimum wage), deal with managers yelling at me if I go out of rotation even one time, and of course deal with fussy customers. I swear if I hear one more person ask for a booth instead of a table I'm going to slap them. Of course lastly, I get the pleasure of cleaning the bathrooms every shift. And that my friends is just LOVELY. There's nothing I enjoy more than emptying out tampon boxes. YES, kill me now is right. So I would love some feedback, do any of you work in the restaurant business and have any ridiculous stories?

Kanye, how could you be so heartless?

At MTV'S video music award ceremony Taylor Swift was awarded the title of "Best Female Video" for her video of "You Belong With Me" (Love that song!). As she was graciously giving her acceptance speech, Kanye West jumped on stage, took the mic right out of her hand, and rudely voiced his opinion that Beyonce should have won the award for her video "Single Ladies." Poor Taylor didn't get to have the moment she deserved. Kanye went on to apologize to the teen sensation and was put on the spot when Jay Leno asked him how his dead mother would feel about his actions. So my question is...was it real or a publicity stunt?

Sorority Recruitment

So as I promised...part of this blogging site will be to let you know what is going on around campus. September the 18th through Tuesday the 22nd is sorority recruitment. Going Greek is a great choice and I highly recommend it to everyone. It is a great way to meet new friends, network, give back to your community thorough philanthropy, and of course to have a full social calendar. My sisters are like a family to me and without them, my life would not be the same. So girls come check out sorority recruitment. You can register online at www.fullerton.edu. We will also be having a booth on Titan Walk this week where you can get more information. And boys, fraternity rush just ended but be sure to check it out in the spring! Go Greeks go!

Tila had too much Tequila?

San Diego Charger's star Shawne Merriman was arrested late into the night on Sunday for suspicions of choking and restraining reality star, Tila Tequila.
He was taken into custody but released when it was revealed that he was just trying to get Tequila to stay at his home after a long night of drinking. He was concerned about her safety.
"I encouraged her to stay until safe transportation could be provided," states Merriman.
And after all this drama, what does Tila have to say? "I can drink."
Wow Tila...why don't you just go take another Myspace picture? I think your shot at love has ended...

Juicy Gossip :)

Hey there, I wanted to use this first post to introduce myself and tell you what my blog site is all about. My name is Gabby and I have to say my guilty pleasure is gossiping. Don't get me wrong, I'm not all drama queen, I can keep a secret when I need to. But I do enjoy a good piece of juicy gossip now and then...don't we all? In this site I will keep you posted on the lastest gossip, or as I like to call it, "goss" (I abbreviate EVERYTHING). Sometimes it might be what trouble celebrities are getting themselves into, other times I might keep you posted on events or situations going on at my school campus (CSUF). And I might even blog about the ups and downs that I or people I know are having in my own personal life. So sit back, and enjoy, cause with me you'll be filled in at all times :)
